A quick note to readers of this community: our long stories have moved! Please update your bookmarks.
As you may know, geocities is closing its doors forever next month. The ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) smutty_claus stories hosted there needed to be moved to another location or lost -- but no worries, I would never let that happen to some of this fest's finest pieces! Thanks to the OTW's the Geocities Rescue Project, a new home has been found which should serve us well for years to come.
All of smutty_claus's long stories from past years can now be found here on the Archive of Our Own, and any stories too long for lj in the 2009 exchange or future rounds will be hosted there as well. (Stories shorter than 12,000 words will not be affected.)
Any questions, comments, or concerns? Just let me know -- I'm always happy to talk about the fest. :) Feel free to leave a comment here or email me at smutty_claus @ yahoo.com.

Timeline
September 1 - Signups open for returning participants only.
September 2 - Signups open for all participants
September 7 - Signups close if maximum number not met earlier.
September 21 - Assignments sent out by this date
November 17 - Fic & art due for first-time participants
November 24 - Fic & art due for all other participants
December 1 - Posting starts
December 31 - Posting finishes
January 7 - Author/Artist identities revealed by this date

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to fill in -- even though I didn't need to call on you this year, just knowing you were there helped me sleep easier at night.
2008 was the smoothest fest I've ever run, and that's because of our wonderful participants. Thank you all for being a mod's dream come true. You're talented, enthusiastic, responsive, and above all you really capture the spirit of giving that this fest is all about. You've made this fest a joy to run, and there's just no way I'd miss it next year.
